ASA Annual Meeting General Information
The ASA Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of Africanists in the world and is the flagship event of the Association. With an attendance of over 2,000 scholars, professionals, and members of the public, the conference offers the following:
2026 Location
The 2026 ASA Annual Meeting will be held in New Orleans, LA at the New Orleans Marriott from December 3 – 6. The Pre-conference PACT Workshop will be held December 2. More information on hotels and travel can be found here.

How to Participate in ASA Programming
Review our 2026 Submission and Participation guidelines before submitting a proposal to the Annual Meeting CFP.
Assemble a session you’d like to submit to the CFP by calling likeminded co-presenters.
Register to submit to the ASA CFP prior to Sunday, March 15.
Submit in our second-chance call with AfricaNow! in August.
Register to attend sessions without presentation or volunteer to chair.
Participate in Coordinate Organization activities.
