The APN & Next Gen team is excited to share the launch of the 2025 APN & Next Gen Call for Proposals. 62 fellowships will be awarded in the 2025 APN and Next Gen Fellowship Competition. These fellowship awards are open to applicants through five (5) categories of awards listed below:
2025 Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa Fellowships
Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Fellowship
The award supports doctoral students in developing their dissertation proposals. Twelve (12) fellowship awards of up to $3,000 each are available.
Doctoral Dissertation Research Fellowship
The award supports doctoral students carrying out fieldwork, collecting, and analyzing data. Seventeen (17) fellowship awards of up to $15,000 each are available.
Doctoral Dissertation Completion Fellowship
The award supports doctoral students to take a one-year leave to focus on data analysis and scholarly writing. Twelve (12) fellowship awards of up to $10,000 each are available.
2025 African Peacebuilding Network Fellowships
APN Individual Research Fellowship (IRF)
The APN IRF award supports early to mid-career scholars or practitioners for up to nine months of field-based research. Twenty (20) fellowship awards of up to $15,000 each are available.
APN Research Policy Fellowship (RPF)
The APN RPF supports former APN IRF Fellows (who received awards no earlier than June 2020) for up to six months of policy research and affiliation to a think tank. Fellowship awards of up to $12,000 are available. One (1) award is available in 2025.
