Another African Literary Giant Gone
The death has just been announced of Dr. Micere Githae Mugo, Kenyan literary notable, activist, playwright, poet, ASA Member, and Professor Emerita of African literature in the Department of African American Studies, College of Arts and Letters, Syracuse University. She was in hospice care before her transition. She touched many lives, mentored generations, and garnered sterling awards. She will be sorely missed by the professional and global community.
Mugo, like Ama Ata Aidoo, has gone to join the literary feast with the ancestors. May these titans be well received yonder. Ashe!
