African Studies Association Announces Coordinate & Affiliate Organization Micro Grantees
PISCATAWAY, New Jersey – The African Studies Association is pleased to announce the recipients of the Coordinate and Affiliate Organization Micro Grants. Established in 2017, the ASA Coordinate and Affiliate Organization Micro Grants are designed to support events or projects organized by ASA Coordinate and Affiliate Organizations during the calendar year. Each year, the ASA awards two Coordinate Organizations and two Affiliate Organizations.
ASA Coordinate and Affiliate Organizations have a scholarly or professional interest in Africa, and often focus on a specific country, region, or discipline. Most organizations present sponsored panels or roundtables and hold meetings or receptions at the ASA Annual Meeting each year. Participation in these organizations allows ASA members to network with other members who hold similar research interests, and to promote academic and field work in specific regions and fields of study.
2026 Coordinate and Affiliate Organization Micro Grantees:
The African Literature Association was awarded $500 to support keynote speakers at their 2026 Annual Conference in Knoxville, TN.
CongoResearchNetwork was awarded $500 to support a CongoResearchNetwork reception at the New Orleans Marriott during the 69th ASA Annual Meeting.
The Central African Studies Association and the Congolese Studies Association were jointly awarded $750 to support the CASA and CSA conference in Kinshasa.
Ghana Studies Association was awarded $750 to support their triennial conference in Kumasi, July 2026.

Established in 1957, the African Studies Association (ASA) is the flagship membership organization devoted to enhancing the exchange of information about Africa. Based in the United States, the ASA aims to cultivate a better understanding of the continent, taking a holistic approach to its areas of focus. ASA provides access to path-breaking research and key debates in African studies and facilitates interdisciplinary exchanges with African scholars and institutions. The ASA Annual Meeting fosters global networks by convening people with scholarly and other interests in Africa, and ultimately broadens professional opportunities in the field. The organization publishes two leading transdisciplinary journals on Africa, African Studies Review and History in Africa and promotes an informed understanding of Africa to educational institutions, as well as to the public, businesses, media, and other interested communities.
