Imani Sanga is Professor of Music at the University of Dar es Salaam. He has researched and published on popular music, music aesthetics, music and postcolonial identities, and the music of Tanzania. He is a recipient of research fellowships from African Scholars Program (2007), African Humanities Program (2009) and National Humanities Center (2019-2020). Currently, he is finishing a monograph on the use of musical figures in Swahili literature.
