Sound, Memory, and Decolonial Imaginaries in the Afro-Atlantic World (Deadline Extended)

This panel explores how artists, writers, and thinkers across the Afro-Atlantic world mobilize aesthetic, philosophical, and cultural practices to confront the enduring legacies of slavery, colonialism, and racial violence. Through literature, film, visual art, urban discourse, and Africana philosophy, the papers examine how cultural production becomes a site for remembering suppressed histories and reimagining Black personhood and collective futures. Focusing on Angola, Portugal, and Brazil, the presentations analyze how creative and intellectual works challenge dominant narratives and foreground marginalized perspectives.
