African Studies Association Announces the 2024 ASA CCNY Fellows

PISCATAWAY, New Jersey – The African Studies Association is pleased to announce the selection of ten Carnegie Corporation of New York supported fellows to participate in ASA workshops and Annual Meeting events.

Thanks to the generous support of the Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY), the African Studies Association is excited to announce that ten outstanding scholars from CCNY’s network of African fellows will participate in ASA workshops and Annual Meeting activities in Chicago, IL December 12-14. The workshop will focus on interdisciplinary presentation skills and effective use of visual aids for diverse specialist and non-specialist audiences. Fellows will utilize the workshop training to successfully present their scholarship to a broad audience of Annual Meeting attendees. Fellows will present on one of two topical sessions including African Identities Amidst Urbanism, Migration, & the Digital and Sustainable African Futures: Climate Change, Policy, & Innovation.

About the ASA

Established in 1957, the African Studies Association is the flagship membership organization devoted to enhancing the exchange of information about Africa. The ASA is based in the United States and aims to cultivate a better understanding of the continent, taking a holistic approach to its areas of focus. Our members include scholars, students, teachers, activists, development professionals, policy makers, donors, and others. ASA provides access to path-breaking research and key debates in African studies and facilitates interdisciplinary exchanges with African scholars and institutions. The ASA Annual Meeting fosters global networks by convening people with scholarly and other interests in Africa, and ultimately broadens professional opportunities in the field.
