Genetics and aDNA are powerful scientific tools for understanding the world of ancient Egypt, but they can be easy misused and manipulated without proper understanding and interdisciplinary engagement.
Dr Sonia Zakrzewski and Dr Shomarka Keita (S.O.Y. Keita) discuss the possibilities and pitfalls of aDNA analysis, the ethical and scientifically sound use of genetic data, and the need for closer engagement between scientists, archaeologists and historians when studying ancient human populations.
