TT Professorship in Development Geography at Mount Holyoke
Mount Holyoke College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Development Geography, to begin in Fall 2023. We are searching for a critical human geographer with regional expertise in the global south and a specialization in decolonial, cultural, feminist, political, economic, or environmental geography. The successful candidate will teach courses (two each semester) in development geography, political and/or economic geography, introductory human geography, and their area of expertise. This development geographer will have a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in their teaching, robust research program, and student advising and mentoring. We seek candidates with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary education, a potential for outstanding scholarly contributions in research, and an interest in mentoring undergraduate students in their research program. A Ph.D. or A.B.D. in Geography is required.
The position will be in a new Department of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability (EES). The EES curriculum will offer students a foundation for understanding Earth’s natural systems and their interactions with political, economic, social, cultural, and historical factors from global to local scales. The new EES Department will result from a planned merger of the Department of Environmental Studies with the Department of Geology and Geography. The successful candidate will participate in building this new interdisciplinary major and curriculum, which also contributes to the college-wide Nexus program in Development Studies and the major in International Relations.
