Soka University of America (SUA) seeks to appoint a Professor in African Studies or Africana Studies at the senior level, beginning August 2022. The search is open to specialization and discipline, but preference will be given to candidates with a proven record of high-quality, innovative scholarship, teaching effectiveness, and evidence of academic leadership. The successful candidate will play an integral role in cross-university programmatic development.
Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds, especially concerning socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, ability/disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity, and have a willingness to facilitate the university’s mission to develop global citizens.
Qualifications: applicants must hold a Ph.D. in African Studies, Africana Studies, or an appropriate area and demonstrate significant experience and excellence in teaching, scholarship, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a diverse environment.
