The Department of English and the Program in Africana Studies at William & Mary seek applications for a jointly appointed tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in African/African diaspora literatures, with a preferred sub-specialization in media studies and/or critical race studies. Appointment will begin August 10, 2020. The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester, one in English and one in Africana Studies. Courses will be cross-listed where appropriate. Courses may include introductory courses in literary interpretation, film studies, Africana studies, modern African American literature, and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. We are especially interested in candidates who can teach courses that fulfill the English Department’s major requirement “Constructions of Race,” and the proposed COLL (general education) requirement in justice and equity.
