Call for Papers Renaissance Society of America (RSA) 2020 Conference
Philadelphia, PA April 2-4, 2020
Topic 1: Constructing Race, Identity and Religion in the Early Modern World
Topic 2: Mediterranean Encounters: Slavery and War
Dr. Janie Cole (RSA Discipline Representative Africana Studies) and Dr. Marsha Collins (RSA Discipline Representative Comparative Literature) are cosponsoring two panels at the RSA 2020 Conference, one on Constructing Race, Identity and Religion in the Early Modern World and the other on Mediterranean Encounters: Slavery and War. We are interested in proposals for papers from prospective panelists representing a variety of disciplines for either of these panels. We welcome diverse approaches, critical perspectives, and theoretical views, and interdisciplinary papers are encouraged.
To submit a proposal for consideration of participation in one of these two panels at the RSA 2020 Conference, please submit the following information in a one-page Word document to Dr. Cole (colejanie[at]gmail.com) AND Dr. Collins (marcol[at]email.unc.edu) by August 5, 2019:
- Name and academic affiliation/independent scholar
- Panel topic of your proposal (Topic 1 or 2)
- Title of your proposed paper (max 15 words)
- Keywords (max 4-5 words)
- Abstract of your proposed paper (max 150 words)
- PhD completion date (past or expected)
Please note that if you are not already a member of RSA, and your paper is accepted for participation in one of these two panels, then you will need to join the RSA before you may participate in the 2020 Conference in Philadelphia. Limited travel grants are available to members of RSA on a competitive basis (see RSA.org).
