The University of California, Davis, Department of English invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor in global Black literature in English of any historical period. Applicants should have research and teaching interests in one or more of the following: African diasporic, Caribbean, Black Atlantic, Afro-Latinx, Anglophone African, and/or hemispheric Black literature. We welcome but do not require, interests in any of the following areas: anti-colonialism, critical geographies, ecology, digital cultures, gender and sexuality studies, science and technology studies, trans-imperial and transcontinental frameworks. Work that challenges established boundaries, regions, periods, and methods within Anglophone literary studies is likewise welcome. Applicants should be able to teach a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate courses in the field. Ph.D. in English or a related field is required and must be in hand by September 1, 2022.
