The Department of Music at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Global Musicology to begin in August 2024. The area of specialization is open to all fields of global music studies. The successful candidate will be an active scholar (rather than a performer or composer) able to teach a wide range of courses that emphasize multidisciplinary approaches, ethnographic experience and method, intersectional engagement, and anti- and/or de-colonial perspectives in ways that will complement the Department’s current strengths and broaden our course offerings.
The successful candidate will be committed to research and publication, teaching undergraduates in a Jesuit liberal arts context, and contributing to Department and College service. We hope to attract candidates who will contribute to the College’s multidisciplinary programs through the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (CIS) – these include but are not limited to Africana Studies; Asian Studies; Digital Media Studies; Environmental Studies; Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies; Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies; Peace and Conflict Studies; and Urban Studies – as well as to the newly formed Department of Critical Race and Ethnic Studies coming online Fall of 2024.
College of the Holy Cross is a highly selective Catholic liberal arts college in the Jesuit tradition. It enrolls about 3,100 students and is located in Worcester, Massachusetts, a medium-sized city 45 miles west of Boston. The College seeks faculty members whose scholarship, teaching, advising, and on- and off-campus service demonstrate an enduring commitment to academic excellence and who embrace the educational benefits of a richly diverse community.
Review of applications will begin October 20th and continue until filled.
