The Department of Religion at Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for a position in the area of race and religion at the rank of Assistant Professor. Disciplinary specialization is open. The department welcomes applicants whose research and teaching interests cover any time period, from antiquity to the present, as well as comparative approaches. Applicants with a research focus prior to the twentieth century are especially encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will have demonstrated interest in the academic study of religion, an innovative research program, and ability to contribute broadly to the department’s undergraduate, graduate, and public-facing programs.
