The African Studies Association’s coordinate organizations are a critical part of our strategy to produce and disseminate knowledge about Africa. The ASA is happy to support and showcase our coordinate organizations. These organizations are organizations that have a scholarly or professional interest in the continent of Africa, and often focus on a specific country, region, or discipline. Most organizations present sponsored panels or roundtables, and hold meetings or receptions for their members and interested individuals at the ASA Annual Meeting each year. Participation in coordinate organizations allows ASA members to network with other members who hold similar research interests, and to promote academic and field work in specific regions and fields of study.
The ASA encourages all of its members to look through our various coordinate organizations, and visit their individual websites to learn more about each organization. If you are interested in joining an organization, please contact their officers. You can find a listing of our current organizations below, with links to their individual webpages.
If you are interested in registering your organization as an ASA coordinate organization, or if you are interested in starting a new coordinate organization, please contact Kathryn Salucka at kathryn@africanstudies.org.
