Dr. Lidiana de Moraes is a NHE postdoctoral fellow, part of Vanderbilt’s Collaborative Humanities program (2022-2025). She is currently working on a book manuscript titled “Reclaiming Political Spaces: Black Feminist Insurgencies in Contemporary Luso-Afro-Brazilian Literatures,” where she explores the connections between literature and activism within an Afro-diasporic context. Through a postcolonial/decolonial framework, she examines how contemporary African and Afro-Brazilian female writers construct a collective, feminist perspective of the Black Atlantic.
In her research and teaching, Dr. de Moraes explores different perspectives of social justice in Latin American and Lusophone scenarios through the lenses of cultural production. Her scholarship has appeared in multilingual settings, such as the Journal of Lusophone Studies, Revista Diadorim, and the edited volume, Narrativas del Miedo: Terror en Obras Literarias, Cinemáticas y Televisivas de Latinoamérica.
