Travel Support Grant
This year the ASA has made a limited number of travel grants available to support attendance to the ASA 66th Annual Meeting in San Francisco. Please read the eligibility guidelines below and submit your application at the bottom of the page. We hope these funds will encourage the broader inclusion of global emerging scholars on the Annual Meeting program and on ICAADS sessions specifically. For questions, please contact the ASA at members@africanstudies.org.
Can I Contribute to this Grant?
Yes, the ASA currently has limited grant funds but we recognize the urgency in the academy to make some support funds available. We have an ambitious goal to support every applicant with something – if not this year, then in the future. If you are interested in donating directly to this grant, please contact the ASA Executive Director at executivedirector@africanstudies.org. 100% of your funds will go to the grantees. There is no institutional overhead and your gift is tax deductible.
Eligibility
Grants can be applied to travel costs or reservations at the conference hotel, the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. Annual Meeting pre-registration is required to apply. Funding preference will be given to emerging scholars, contingent scholars, and those presenting on a proposed ICAADS session. Definitions for “emerging” and “contingent” are in the application. Proof of reservations will be required by August 15 to confirm the funds. All grants will be provided as cash or check onsite at the meeting.
