‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’: Rethinking Zimbabwe

2017 marked a seminal turning point in Zimbabwe’s political and social history. The arrival of the Second Republic attracted mixed sentiments, globally. Since then, the country has been marred by an array of contested socio-economic and political shifts that have sparked widespread academic and social commentary. This panel welcomes presentations that fit within the broadly defined panel categories of Social, Environmental and Economic history and capture the wide range of everyday experiences of Zimbabwean society, locally and abroad. Presentations are encouraged to allow us to think critically about the changes and continuities and the role of social discourse in the developmental trajectory of Zimbabwe.
