Among the core global goals, peace and security are emphasised. More importantly, global peace and security is at the centre of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Language is very pivotal towards the maintenance of peace and security, globally and more specifically in Africa. Misunderstandings which result to conflicts in most African nations are product of cultural identities as well as linguistic marginalisation. With the increasing trend in importation of policies and practices of European nations, such as the gender categorization and ideologies, the African linguistic/ cultural adoptions now conflict with her linguistic and cultural values, thereby compounding the already existing problems. It is therefore paramount to address the issue of African cultural and linguistic realities to enhance government policies design and implementation in Africa.
