Teacher Identity, Professional Development, and the Medium of Instruction in East Africa

The panel proposal will include papers related to debate and discussion around the medium of instruction policy in East Africa, teacher identity, and teacher professional development. The full nature of the panel will be determined by paper submissions, but an emphasis on local voices within the context, theory-praxis connection, and issues/solutions will be emphasized. Teacher linguistic identity plays an important role in how effectively current curricula is implemented and local voices who are working to improve teacher training and professional development are critical to understand needs, successes, and challenges.
