The Loss of Priceless Materials at the University of Cape Town
The African Studies Association is deeply saddened by the loss of many priceless materials in the fire of April 18, 2021, at the University of Cape Town, including of the Jaggar Reading Room of the UCT Library. We will work with the Africana Librarians Council and other ASA affiliate and coordinate organizations and our partner organizations in Africa such as ASAA etc., to support the University of Cape Town in the important rebuilding of this collection. We encourage our members to make contributions as they are able, especially to share any materials they may have in either their personal or University research collections that could help to rebuild the African Studies collection at UCT.
