Rachel Jean-Baptiste is Associate Professor of History at University of California-Davis (https://history.ucdavis.edu/people/rachel-jean-baptiste) and Associate Dean of the University of California Education Program. She is the author of two books, Multiracial Identities in Colonial French Africa: Race, Childhood, and Citizenship (Cambridge, 2023) and Conjugal Rights: Marriage, Sexuality, and Urban Life in Colonial Libreville, Gabon (Ohio, 2013-14). She has also published articles in edited volumes and journals such as: Journal of African HistoryJournal of Women’s History, and Cahiers d’Etudes Africaines. She is the 2022-2024 co-President of the Coordinating Council of Women in History and sits on the UK Collective of the Gender and History journal as well as the board of the Western Society for French Historical Studies.
