Professor Mucha Musemwa is the current Dean of Humanities at the University of the Witwatersrand. He is an elected member of the Academy of Science of South Africa, a member of the Board of Directors for several global humanities and environmental humanities-related organizations and serves as the Chairperson of the Board of the Public Affairs Research Institute. Professor Musemwa has a deep understanding of the contemporary pedagogical issues confronting the humanities, the role that the Faculty can play on the continent and in the Global South, and a vision for a socially responsive and digital Faculty. He is the author of Water, History, and Politics in Zimbabwe: Bulawayo’s Struggles with the Environment, 1894–2008 (2014) and editor of Africa’s Radicalisms and Conservatisms: Politics, Poverty, Marginalization and Education (with Edwin Etieyibo and Obvious Katsaura, 2021) and Crisis! What Crisis? The Multiple Dimensions of the Zimbabwean Crisis (with Sarah Chiumbu, 2012).
