Bright Nkrumah

Bright Nkrumah is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of International Development, Community and Environment (IDCE) at Clark University. Before joining the IDCE, he was a Landhaus Fellow at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society at the University of Munich. Nkrumah also served as a scholar-activist at the Global Change Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand, and the Center for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria. He also worked as a researcher at the South African Human Rights Commission on the operationalisation of the constitutional provisions on socioeconomic rights at the grassroots levels. Nkrumah has taught and published extensively on climate change, environmental movements, food insecurity, political contestation, civil societies, disability, minority rights, and democratization. He is the author of Seeking the Right to Food: Food Activism in South Africa (2021 Cambridge University Press).
