Institutional Membership Benefits:

Up to 10 individual memberships, with a requirement that 50% of those support Emerging Scholars.** All memberships will receive full ASA individual benefits.
Institutional Specific Benefits Include:
- Automatic membership to the Association of African Studies Programs (AASP)
- Visiting Scholars: First right of refusal to host an ASA Presidential Fellow
- A right to first proposal for topics/scholars to lead Members-Only Sessions throughout the year, hosted and promoted by the ASA

- Two gratis job postings per calendar year

**If your organization does not have emerging scholars the institutional membership may be applied to relevant junior team members, visiting scholars, or other affiliates at the discretion of the organization.
Membership rates
African Studies Association membership is open to scholars, students, and practitioners from around the world, who have an interest in Africa. ASA membership is valid from January 1 – December 31 for the year in which it was purchased.
*The ASA defines an Emerging Scholar as in pursuit of one’s terminal degree, or within five years post completion. International Emerging Scholars residing in the following countries are not eligible based on their designation as high income: United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom
**The ASA defines a Sustaining Member as a membership which includes a $150 tax deductible donation within the membership fee for one year. As a thank you, the ASA offers a discounted registration and no onsite increase to Sustaining Members in their given membership year.
